Impersonation used to mean the odd fake fan page. Now it's accounts built from your photos, scam profiles messaging your audience in your name, and AI-generated images of you. You're usually the last to find out, from a follower who already got the DM.
Proprias watches for you. Add your names and handles, opt in to face matching, and daily scans flag fake profiles on Instagram and TikTok and public pages using your face. Every match lands in your review queue with the evidence attached.

How likeness protection works
Tell us who you are
Add your names, stage names, and handles to your watchlist. Face matching is optional: you confirm it's you with a selfie and give consent, and you can delete your face profile, and its data, at any time.
Find the fakes
Daily scans across Google, image results, X, Reddit, forums, Instagram, TikTok, and the open web look for your names, your handles, and, with face matching on, your face. Fake profiles and pages using your likeness land in your review queue.
Keep the evidence
Every confirmed match is saved with its URL, screenshots, and timestamps in your evidence vault, so you still have a record when the account is deleted and comes back under a new name.
Get it removed
Impersonation goes through each platform's impersonation report, which asks you to verify your ID, so Proprias gives you the right form with the evidence ready. When the fake reuses photos or video you own, Proprias can also send a DMCA notice, filed as your agent on Defend and VIP.
Which removal route applies
Impersonation isn't one problem, so there isn't one form. Proprias points each match to the route that fits it.
An account pretending to be you
Platform impersonation report
Instagram, TikTok, and X each have one. You verify your identity; the account itself is removed.
Your photos or videos reused
DMCA takedown notice
Works for content you own the copyright to, such as photos you took. Removes the content, not the account.
Intimate images of you, real or AI
TAKE IT DOWN Act request
Covered platforms must remove nonconsensual intimate imagery, including AI forgeries, within 48 hours.
Other AI fakes of you
Platform synthetic-media policy
Most major platforms ban deceptive synthetic media of real people; many US states add their own laws.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do if someone is impersonating me online?
Document it first: screenshot the profile and save the URL before it changes. Then report it through the platform's impersonation form; Instagram, TikTok, and X all have one, and each will ask you to verify your identity. Post from your real account so your audience knows which one is you. If the fake reuses your photos or videos, a DMCA notice can remove those too. Proprias finds the fakes, keeps the evidence, and gives you the right form for each platform.
How do I find fake accounts using my photos?
Search your name and handles on each platform, and run a reverse image search on the photos you post most. That works once, but impersonators come back under new names. Proprias repeats the search every day across Google, image results, X, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and the open web, and with face matching on, it can flag pages that use your face even when your name isn't on them.
Can Proprias report a fake account for me?
Platforms require the person being impersonated to verify their own identity, so you submit the impersonation report yourself; Proprias gives you the right form and the evidence to attach. Where the fake reuses photos or video you own, Proprias can send a DMCA notice as your authorized agent on Defend and VIP, which keeps your legal name and address off the notice.
Is face matching safe? What happens to my face data?
Face matching is opt-in. You confirm you are the person in the photo and consent to Proprias processing your facial data to detect unauthorized use, impersonation, and deepfakes of your likeness. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your face profile, which permanently deletes the face data. Proprias never needs your platform logins or private messages.
Can I use a DMCA notice against an impersonator?
Only for content you own. A DMCA notice removes copyrighted material, such as photos or videos you took yourself; it doesn't remove the account. Photos someone else took of you usually belong to that photographer. The impersonation itself is handled by the platform's impersonation report.
Does Proprias detect deepfakes of me?
On the VIP plan, content found in your scans is also checked for signs of AI manipulation, and every match goes to your review queue first. For intimate deepfakes, the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act requires covered platforms to remove them within 48 hours of a valid request.
